Smithsonian Channel: Rock 'N' Roll Inventions

So the Smithsonian Channel has this show called "Rock 'N' Roll Inventions". Of course, Thermionic-Studios.com is a site where we talk about gear (mostly tube amps, and the heavy bands that play them) it seemed like something I (and you) would very much want to watch. I actually found it over the New Year's Eve / New Years Day break. As I recall, I was watching Smithsonian Channel, probably something about American History. I imagine it was either something interesting like the Civil War, or something...

Houston Press: Volley Back to Bar Owners

In our continuing saga of Musicians vs Club Owners, there's yet another entry from the Houston Press. How the Houston Press would have come across the posting, especially given its apparently short life on the Tampa Craigslist site is all the more amazing. Clearly when that club owner posted his missive, it struck a chord.

OnStageMagazine: Open Letter From a Bar Owner

We need to offer some background on this letter first:
1.) It would appear that Chris LeDrew originally found this posting at the beginning of 2013.
2.) It appears to have been reposted by Chris, or someone known to Chris who gave him credits at On Stage Magazine.
3.) Presuming the chain of custody and the chain of information is correct, this Craiglist posting was listed briefly in the Tampa site...

GreatSouthernBrainFart: Letter from Musician to Bar Owners

So we ended up finding out this interesting juxtaposition between a working musician, Bill Lonero, and a club owner. Bill, the musician, laid out his position in a 15 point manifesto. It was a pretty good manifesto. It was reasoned well. It was articulated well. I found it to be a little snarky with respect to the club owner's perspective (by writing "maybe you shouldn't be hosting live music?"), but at the same time I can totally understand where he's coming from.

Diamond Lane and Gypsy Flight, 20-Feb-2015

I had a great time sitting in with Tim at The COAR Radio show, on Thursday Feb 19th. I was invited to come back on the 20th, but was unable to do so. I came to San Jose to help my mom with an eye surgery. She had to be seen for her post-operation check exactly the same time that I would have gone in on Friday, the 20th. So unfortunately I wasn't able to join him again. Fortunately, and more importantly, my Mom's eye surgery procedure was successful...

The COAR Radio Show

Hello! I have come up to the San Jose area for a few days and have met with an old radio broadcasting friend, Timothy J. Tim and I used to have a show on KFJC (89.7 FM, Foothill Junior College, Los Altos Hills) called the Tuesday Radio Tabloids where we would get a bunch of ridiculous tabloid stories on the air and take phone calls on them. (I also worked on the air at a commercial radio station called KSJO, before it got sold off and went Spanish-language, but that's another story...) As happens, our careers took different directions, and I moved to Long Beach.
