This is just some random "color" text that we found associated with wah-wah pedals. We wanted to keep it because of the reference to Jimi Hendrix's "Summer of Love Sessions" (1967) when he was learning how to use a wah-wah and the fact he used an Ampeg Reverberrocket amp:

SGVMusic History of the Wah-Wah "Very soon after, Frank (Zappa) showed it to Jimi Hendrix. In early July, Jimi went to Manny’s & bought one himself, also from the first batch in from Italy. At the time he was completing the long drawn out song Burning of The Midnight Lamp which was finally finished and mixed on July 20th, 1967. Jimi was also finishing up his commitments and recordings for Ed Chalpin. There are rare Wah Wah tracks of Jimi getting to know the new VOX Clyde McCoy Wah Wah Pedal through an Ampeg Reverberrocket amplifier."

We have been assembling an inventory of Wah-wah enclosures not because we want to make a large variety of wah-wah sounds, but also because we have been entertaining the idea of putting as many guitar pedals into wah-enclosures as is reasonable and is feasible because we want to make a whole different range of sounds available by use of a treadled pedal. So our goals are two-fold:

  • Crazy and cool sounding Wah-wahs
  • Enabling a whole new kind of crazy and cool sounding pedals using the same kind of foot-treadled mechanism

We want to help you make as many cool and un-copyable sounds as you can while you're practicing, performing, or recording.

The only PCB that we haven't found is a Flanger-effect PCB with a footprint small enough to fit inside a wah-wah enclosure. We think it would be so cool to be able to make a flanging effect that tracks the rocking of your foot on a pedal in the very same way a wah-wah sound tracks.

We will remain on the lookout for such a PCB. Who knows? Maybe we'll be inspired enough to make one if we can't find one...

Wah-wah PCBs

This is the list of PCBs that we have that go into treadled enclosures, part of the reason we've been collecting a large number of used or broken wah-wah pedals

  1. DeadEndFX CosmoKing - clone of the Royal Cosmo Wah
  2. DeadEndFX Fubble Wubble - clone of the Roland AD-50 Double Beat
  3. DeadEndFX MrMulti - clone of Korg Mr. Multi

Non-Wah Treadled PCBs

  1. DeadEndFX Ludwig Phase II (Combines with 1590D enclosure) - Fuzz and Vocal Formant
  2. DeadEndFX Pompei (This is a Synthi Hi-Fli Clone and needs 2 Wah enclosures for the effect)
  3. DeadEndFX Pompei Wah Enclosure #2
  4. DeadEndFX Tresonator - clone of the Frostwave Resonator
  5. Electric Roots Ventilator
  6. GPCB Apollo Tremolo

Other Wah-Type Pedals

Other Treadled pedals that modify sound similarly but we may not have such:

  • Colorsound Vocalizer

Wah Inductors

We have a collection of inductors we've gathered in order to put into our various wah-wahs in order to access the sound characteristics of each.

List: Gotta go dig them up!
