Bogner Ecstasy overdrive. Background information - cultural elements.
- Thermionic Studios one(1) of these pedals available for rental.
Controls
- Switch 1 - "Variac": Toggles a (off/on) "variac" dropping the internal voltage to the effect adding some "sag" or "sponginess" to the overdrive tone.
- Switch 2 - "Mode": Toggles the mode of the pedal between a lower-gain Marshall Plexi tone, or Bogner's own voiced "blue channel" tone.
- Switch 3 - "Pre-Eq": (b1-n-b2) Changes the voicing of the pedal
- b1: This selection accentuates the upper mid frequencies.
- n: "neutral" - a "flat" response with no special coloring or voicing.
- b2: Shifts the "Presence" control up.
- Switch 4 - "Structure": (on-on-on) Another kind of voicing switch to select between vintage(101) through to more modern (20th anniversary) sounds.
- 101: A vintage lower-gain voicing.
- 100: A voicing that accentuates the 80's sound, good for guitar palm muting.
- 20th: (short for 20th anniversary) a "modern" tight voicing of a Bogner Ecstasy amplifier.
- Knob 1 - "Volume": This knob allows you to dial in desired level of efect volume. Fully clockwise is maximum.
- Knob 2 - "Treble": Allows adjustment of the Treble frequencies.
- Knob 3 - "Middle": Midrange frequencies with fully clockwise being maximum.
- Knob 4 - "Bass": Adjusts the Bass feature with fully clockwise being maximum.
- Knob 5 - "Gain": Adjusts the total amount of input signal with fully clockwise being maximum.
- Minidial 1 - "Boost Volume": dotted to Volume: controls the amount of volume added when the Boost Footswitch is engaged.
- Minidial 2 - "Boost Gain": dotted to Gain: controls the amount of gain added when the Boost Footswitch is engaged.
- Footswitch 1 - "Boost": This footswitch toggles between the added Boost function "on", or Boost "off".
- Footswitch 2 - "On/Off": This footswitch toggles the pedal between engaged/active ("On"), and bypassed ("Off")
One thing to note is that if the pedal isn't engaged, the Boost footswitch is inactive. It's only possible to engage or disengage the boost if the pedal is "on". The EQ function from the Treble-Middle-Bass is noted for being very robust, unlike a lot of other pedals.
Jacks
- Jack 1 - "In"
- Jack 2 - "Remote"
- Jack 3 - "Out"
- Jack 4 - "Power"
The only thing interesting about the jacks, which have the usual "in", "out", and power, is the "remote" jack. This allows you to hook up the pedal to a remote controller in order to turn the pedal and boost features on and off.
Bypass: Buffered/True

Ad-libbing
Never forget that regardless of whatever informational section, good descriptions of things (in this case pedals) require ad-libbing additional Subjects/Titles, and Sub-Subjects/Titles. This is important as particular and peculiar features regarding a pedal stand out, and thus require calling out. Let form follow function.
