Here at Thermionic, we're not always open to new interpretations of heavy songs, however, the past two days have been interesting. Yesterday, driving back from Santa Monica I was listening to KCRW. DJ Raul Campos played a tastefully remixed version of Black Sabbath's Planet Caravan.

This version is called Planet Caravan (Poolside Rework) by a duo called Poolside. Honestly, I was afraid, prior to posting this article, that I wouldn't be able to find the track. Thanks to Poolside for posting it to Soundcloud. I found the rework to be faithful to the original in terms of tempo and feel, while applying their own sound to the track. It was quite a pleasant surprise.

The item that actually earned the post was the happenstance of also running into a female artist who calls herself Luna Lee on YouTube. Luna uses an ancient Korean instrument called a Gayageum. You can go to her site to learn more about it. She's done some pretty amazing things, like getting the Gayageum to sustain longer, and interact with modern amplifiers and effects. What really caught our attention is her reperformance of Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven.

It's pretty incredible.
