Frequently Asked Questions:

What’s the difference between Womanizer and Demonizer?

- Womanizer is voiced for more ‘classic’ tones, with Class A style cascaded gain stages. Demonizer is voiced more aggressively, and uses its tubes in a hybrid design that gives the tighter characteristics of Class A/B power stages. Check out our sound clips to hear the differences.

What’s the difference between Solid Metal and Demonizer?

- Demonizer is a full-featured pre-amp that ranges from totally clean to heavy, with powerful Pre-tube EQ and Post-tube EQ and a great-sounding Direct Out for recording or going straight into the board. Solid Metal is for punishing metal into the front of an amp. At its cleanest, it’s still crunchy, and the active Post EQ is tailored for the heaviest sounds. Check out the soundclips.

What’s the difference between Liquid Blues and Womanizer?

- Womanizer is a full-featured pre-amp that ranges from totally clean to distorted, with powerful Pre-tube EQ and Post-tube EQ and a great-sounding Direct Out for recording or going straight into the board. Liquid Blues is the ultimate in-front-of-amp driver-type pedal. You can use it to fatten up your sound, boost your lead tones, or get unique ‘dual path’ tones with the Clarity control. Check out the soundclips.

What’s the difference between TimeLine and Glass Nexus?

- Glass Nexus is a multi-effect (3 at once – mod, delay, verb) and TimeLine is a super-full-featured delay pedal that can produce modulation effects because of its flexible design. With TimeLine, you only get one effect at a time, and every effect (even chorus, flange etc) is really just a subset of the very flexible delay algorithm. In Glass Nexus, the modulation algorithms are designed differently (sonically optimized) for each modulation, whereas for TimeLine they are produced by varying the parameteres of the delay algorithm. But of course, as far as delay goes, TimeLine has much more capability than the Glass Nexus delay. Check out the soundclips.

Can I change the tubes myself?

- Yes. Removing the bottom plate with 5 screws will give you access to the tubes. Make sure the unit has been powered off for at least 15 minutes to allow for the high internal voltages to discharge.

What tubes will work in the Damage Control pedals as replacements?

- Any 12AX7 tubes will work with the Damage Control pedals. They are self-biased so no adjustments are necessary.

Will I void my warranty if I replace the tubes?

- We have never refused to service a pedal under warranty because the tubes had been changed. Now, if someone tried to replace the tubes using a hammer or something and created a big mess, then repair work would not be under warranty. So if you’d like to change the tubes, don’t worry about the warranty (unless you use a hammer).

Can I use a Voodoo Labs Pedal Power to power Damage Control pedals?

- No, the Voodoo labs power pedals do not supply enough current to run Damage Control pedals.

Are there any other power supplies available that are compatible with Damage Control pedals?

- A Line6 Pod XT (9vAC 2000mA) power supply will work with Damage Control pedals. The only difference is the Line6 supply has a 2.5mm plug, and Damage Control has a 2.1mm jack, so the fit is a bit loose. You can buy a plug adapter at action electronics http://www.action-electronics.com/dcpowerplugs.htm#Adapters#30-344 2.5mm x 5.5 DC JACK to 2.1mm x 5.5 DC PLUG for $2.00.

Can I connect my headphones to the Direct Out jack on Womanizer/Demonizer?

- Although it is not designed as a headphone amplifier, most headphones will work fine. Start with the Level knob down, and turn it up gradually. The Direct Out is mono, so you need to get a mono to dual-mono (stereo) adapter to get the signal to both sides of the headphones.

What are the dimensions of the Damage Control pedals?

- They are approx 7.5? x 9?, and the height is about 3.5? which includes the protective, non-removable ‘handle’.

What kind of switch will work with Solid Metal or Liquid Blues for remote switching?

- Any latching footswitch will do such as the HOSA FSC-385 Dual-Channel Latching Footswitch.

Can the looper on the TimeLine be synced to MIDI clock?

- Yes. 1. Turn the encoder to looper mode. 2. With the MIDI clock stopped, press the tap button twice to enable the looper for quantize. 3. Then start the midi clock and the light with flash in sync with the clock. 4. Now use the looper just as you would had you tapped a tempo as per pg20 of the manual.

Can the Glass Nexus be synced to MIDI clock?

- Yes, however when the midi clock is present, the Tap function is not available. You can alter the delay time with the time knob. As soon as you stop changing the knob, the MIDI clock will take back control and the time will sweep back to the clock sync.

Where are Damage Control products made?

- All Damage Control products are made in the USA.
